Research reveals that equitable employers outperform their competitors by appreciating and respecting the unique strengths, perspectives and prospective skills of all their team members – which results in deeper dedication and trust from their employees. UPSTANDER TRAINING

Sadly many of us are witness to racism, bullying and prejudice in our everyday lives. We see the heavy impact on the victims and the deep distress it causes them. We want to help, but are often unsure of what to do as bystanders. Concerns for our own saftey are mixed with uncertainty about how to defuse emotive situations whilst still supporting the victim and calling out the injustice. At Sherlock & Dutta Consulting we offer training on how to transition from bystander behaviour to upstander action, safely. We give you the tools and the practical experience to de-escalate situations whilst empowering victims. This interactive half day course focuses on building real skills that you can use in everyday life to support your fellow human beings with a primary focus on individual safety.

*This training is also adapted for student cohorts and takes a student-led focus, with safety as the guiding principle.

ANTI-RACISM TRAINING

We provide a unique style of anti-racism training. A style that is both bold and brave. At Sherlock & Dutta Consulting, we design bespoke anti-racism programs that invite schools and organisations to move beyond awareness toward transformation. Grounded in research and reflective inquiry, our work cultivates spaces where dialogue becomes a form of learning, and equity a shared practice. Through guided reflection and critical engagement, participants are supported to recognise the subtleties of bias, dismantle systemic barriers and reimagine belonging as both an ethical responsibility and a collective act of courage.

ANTI-RACISM INITIATIVE AND STRATEGY

At Sherlock & Dutta Consulting we believe that communities are rapidly changing. We focus on taking an educative response to working alongside all levels of government, as well as companies, organisations and institutions to make noticeable differences within Tasmania, by taking practical steps to addressing the impacts of racism. PERIMENOPAUSE and MENOPAUSE TRAINING

For too long the life stages of perimenopause and menopause that are integral stages in the journey of women have long been under-recognised, under-researched, and under-supported. At Sherlock & Dutta Consulting we aim to raise awareness, break long-held silences, and normalise conversations around peri and menopause. To achieve this, we offer training for workplaces, engage in policy discussions, workshops and create education resources that assist in thriving through the transition of menopause. This training creates awareness in workplaces that ensures Tasmanian women receive compassionate support, reliable information, and evidence-based care, and that men are informed on support strategies.

BIAS IN THE WORKPLACE TRAINING

Bias in the Workplace Training is a half-day course that provides participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence to identify bias within themselves and to recognise how to regulate that when appropriate. It builds knowledge and understanding about what bias is, various types and the ways in which it can impact on everyday communications and decisions. The training explores understanding bias, the negative outcomes on communication, decision-making and workplace relationships with individuals from different cultural backgrounds, perspectives and personal experiences – such as trauma. The training is conducted in a supportive and engaging environment that combines personal introspection, theory and practical activities to build knowledge and skills in addressing and avoiding bias. Finally, it examines the legal and policy obligations specific to the workplace in relation to bias and discrimination. The training is intended to assist all levels of staff from customer service, operations to senior and executive management by improving capacity and confidence in identifying bias within themselves and others. It provides strategies to regulate bias when appropriate, in order to facilitate meaningful and respectful communication, as well as fair decision-making; both within the organisation and beyond it.

Sherlock & Dutta Consulting, an immigrant owned firm, acknowledges with deep gratitude the opportunities our move to Tasmania has afforded us. We recognise that these opportunities are inseparable from this land’s history. Our ability to live, work and contribute here must be accompanied by an honest recognition of the past — a history marked by dispossession, violence and the profound impacts on the oldest continuing culture on Earth. We recognise you. We are grateful.
In recognition of the deep history and culture of Lutruwita/Tasmania, we wish to acknowledge the traditional and original custodians of the land. We acknowledge the Muwinina and Palawa/Pakana people as the traditional and ongoing custodians of Lutruwita, the land on which we work, play and live. We are committed to honouring them and their unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and their rich contribution to our society.

We acknowledge the determination and resilience of the Palawa/Pakana people of Tasmania, who have survived invasion and dispossession, and continue to maintain their identity, culture and rights.
We recognise the value of continuing Tasmanian Aboriginal knowledge and cultural practice, and pay respect to those before us, in the now, and for those who will come after us. We recognise that the rights to this land have never been ceded, and that this was and always will be Aboriginal land.
